Hello!
My name is Yilei Qian, and I am a fashion designer based in New York. I graduated from the Fashion Institute of Technology in 2024 with a BFA in fashion design and a knitwear specialization.

I have always been told that ever since I could hold a pencil, I have been drawing, scribbling, or cutting up pieces of paper. Almost two decades later, the same still holds true, except maybe I am a little more sophisticated with my art now, but my love for creation remains overwhelmingly strong.
To answer the common question, "What are your hobbies? What do you like to do in your spare time?"
My answer is always art. Whether it be drawing, painting, designing, sewing, knitting, sculpting, writing, singing, etc., it is always art. There is nothing else in the world I would rather be doing.

Designer Statement
To feel is to think from the heart, and this concept of feeling has been an obsession of mine.

As art is a vehicle for feelings, feeling is a direct path to the heart, and fashion is my chosen form of art. The themes of my collections always center around these feelings, philosophies, or my particular outlook on life. I tell stories and build worlds through design to communicate larger ideas in hopes that people feel my message, so they can then understand it in the strongest and deepest way possible.

As a designer with experience in knitwear, ready-to-wear, intimate apparel, and tailoring, I love to mix and match, experiment, and play with different styles. Despite changing seasons, colors, materials, and stories, however, my garments will always be designed and made with love in mind– love for the craft, love for the wearer, and love for the planet. I hope it is my dedication to creating clothes to be cherished for all their fun, boldness, and wearability that extends to any and all viewers.

For everyone whose style is as vibrant as their personality. For everyone who is not afraid to stand out on the street. My passion is to give you that shine without sacrificing comfort.

Every piece reflects my sentiment to make our world a better place. Today, we are found in a time when feeling is a sin, but that is precisely why we need it now more than ever. So, think a little bit less, love a lot more, and open yourself to me. I hope you enjoy my work.
